Our vision exams are unique. We schedule 1.5 to 2 hours for each patient, to provide time to complete all the necessary tests and discuss the results with the families. On this page, our patients kindly share their thoughts on their EFVC vision exam.

I recently had an eye exam with Dr. Gabrielle.  I received the most comprehensive exam I've ever had.  In a world where many doctors rush you in and out and hardly establish eye contact this was a refreshing change.

I had been unhappy with my previous prescription and was always taking my glasses off.  When I explained this problem with Dr. Gabrielle she gave me extra time to walk around with a pair of trial lenses so that I could experience what the lenses would feel like.  She also explained why I was dissatisfied before because of my eye-teaming challenges.  My previous lenses were clear but pulled too much on my eyes.

I highly recommend Dr. Gabrielle for a pleasant and comprehensive exam.  You won't be disappointed!

Dr. Gabrielle cares not only about the whole patient – going beyond vision and eyes – she cares about the whole family.

I continue to be touched and amazed by the quality time she spends with our family on each visit.

I recently took my little 8 month old to see Dr. Gabrielle for his first 6 month old eye exam. Dr. Gabrielle was so kind to give my son an eye exam at no cost. Some parents don't know this but it is very important to get your child in as early as 6 months to get their eyes checked, the earlier the better.

The service she gave to my child was amazing. She was so patient and kind, especially with kids you have to be. She did a series of tests with my son to make sure his eyes were working properly. I felt she took a lot of good time with my son, which surprised me because she didn't just treat my son as an infant with a quick service but as a regular patient.

When you meet Dr. Gabrielle you don't just feel your meeting a doctor but someone who is there for you.

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Gabrielle for a number of years now.  Every vision exam for me and my child have been thorough and left me feeling confident in my understanding of our vision needs.  She relates well with children and adults.

My  5 year old son, Cade,  has had a number of visits with her and each one she has taken time with me  to get updates and observations from me then carefully chooses tests that allow him to feel comfortable.  I have noticed that the testing methods she chooses always seem to double check his responses so I feel confident with the findings in the end.  She makes the testing fun and serious all at the same time.  My son always enjoys going to the office so when I tell him we are going to see Dr Gabrielle there is never any resistance.

My exams and the resulting prescription for glasses have been outstanding.   When I recently decided to try wearing contact lenses I knew Eastside Family Vision Care was the place for me to go.  Dr Gabrielle ordered a number of lens options for me and has communicated well the process.  I am in the fitting process and appreciate Dr Gabrielle’s willingness to continue trying a variety of lens brands to insure we have found the best fit for me.

I will continue to pass on high praises and share my experiences with anyone looking for a vision exam.

Sincerely,

Karen G.

I had an eye exam with Dr. Gabrielle at Eastside Family Vision Care and the services I received were more than what I had before in an eye exam at any other place. I used to go to those places where you'd pay a fee and out you went with just a prescription in your hand.

In this case Dr. Gabrielle wasn't just there to collect my money and give me a prescription, she was there to treat my needs and do way more than just an eye exam. She listened to what I had issues with, she observed what I was going through, and she was there as a friend to consult. She truly cares for her patients one at a time and at her own pace. I never felt rushed or felt it was an "in and out" service at all.

I would highly recommend this clinic to someone to deserves the best service in the Eastside. Thank You Dr. Gabrielle for not just being a Dr. but someone who also can listen to their patients and their needs.

My 8 yr old daughter saw Dr. Gabrielle for her eye exam.  This was my daughter's first eye exam.

Dr. Gabrielle was very thorough and made sure my daughter was comfortable throughout the 2 hour exam.  She dilated my daughter's eyes and talked her through each step and even gave her a prize for handling it so well.  Any time my daughter had questions, Dr. Gabrielle answered them in a way that my daughter could understand the answers.  Dr. Gabrielle made the exam FUN for my daughter, who initially was very nervous about the whole thing!

Not to mention that the lobby has books, Build-A-Bear, Legos, and snacks for patients and their families. What a great environment for kids who may be nervous or even afraid of seeing the eye doctor!

I have myopia (nearsightedness).  I have been going to the eye doctor since 5th grade.  I've always gone to the quick, cheap, easy eye exam.

But last year I saw Dr. Gabrielle. Her eye exam is completely different from what I experienced at other offices.  Other offices did a 15 minute exam; Dr. Gabrielle spent 2 hours with me.  She performed many tests that other doctors did not.  She asked lots of questions and made sure I was comfortable.

In the end, she confirmed the myopia and adjusted my prescription to the correct strength, and also went over other findings with me.   If I weren't moving out of state this summer, my daughter and I would continue to see Dr. Gabrielle. I recommend her to others!

As a primary care optometrist who works in a commercial setting, I occasionally refer my patients for specialty eye care when it is beyond my scope of practice.  My clinical philosophy is to always give my patients the best care possible.  Therefore, when my 7 and 9 year old daughters became rapidly more myopic this year, I decided it was time for them to see an expert in developmental vision care to see what can be done to slow down the progression.  I immediately thought of one of my dearest friends from optometry school, Dr. Neena Gabrielle.

Dr. Gabrielle is one of the compassionate people I have ever known, so I wasn't surprised that after we earned our degrees in primary care optometry she went on for several years of further study to earn her fellowship and board certification in vision development.  She has always been passionate about caring for those with special visual needs.  I knew I could trust her to come up with a practical and effective treatment for my daughters so it was worth it to me to drive to Kirkland, Washington for them to see her.

Vision development is different for each individual, as different as visual needs for each lifestyle.  That is why when you go to see a specialist in this area, there is a long list of tests that needs to be done to measure each person's visual ability and the exam can take up to 2 hours.  Dr. Gabrielle is very thorough in how she gathers her data because she needs to have a complete understanding of the areas in which the patient needs improvement. It allows her to create a treatment plan and revisit those data points at the follow up visits and ensure that progress is made.  Since I understood this, I explained to my daughters that the vision exam will be long, but knowing Dr. Gabrielle she will keep the pace upbeat and interesting.  She has many different ways to keep a child engaged during the exam, including a TV screen with dancing toys, different voices that she uses, and interesting equipment.  Her office is very patient-friendly.

My daughters had never met Dr. Gabrielle before but were quickly put at ease with her kind and fun demeanor.   They were engaged during the whole exam and coaxed into cooperating very well.  More importantly, Dr. Gabrielle was able to come up with a plan for us to slow down the progression of myopia.  Now it is up to us to follow her instructions and do the prescribed exercises.
